7 things you can do to improve this summer

We can all agree that the summer months are amazing, especially in Sweden. Enjoying the sunshine on the beach all day, eating grilled food when it’s getting closer to the evening, and staying up late to see the sunset are experiences you can’t put a price on. All of this is of course great, but the summer can also be a time for improvement. In this article, we list 7 things you can do to grow during your vacation.

1. Read a book

Reading is a common denominator for all successful people. According to Business Insider, Warren Buffett would read 600, 750, or 1000 pages each day when he started his investment career. Today, 80% of his day is still spent reading. If that’s the reason why he’s so successful now, we can’t say, but there definitely seems to be a link between reading and knowledge. So what are you waiting for? Open up a book already!

2. Get active

Exercising is good for you, we don’t have to say that more than once. However, getting into a workout routine can be a challenge. We recommend spending as much time as possible outside – you don’t have to be cramped up in a sweaty room to be healthy! There are plenty of outdoor gyms in Stockholm, and if that doesn’t sound adventurous enough you can try kayaking or mountain climbing. Yoga in the park or on a beach might be worth a try too.

3. Learn something new

You know what they say – knowledge is power. Acquiring a new skill means that you also become more knowledgable. Apart from the fact that it’s fun to learn, it can be valuable in a number of different situations as well. Perhaps your potential client loves golfing  – great! Now you can have a meeting on the golf course. Maybe you’re traveling to a different country – knowing a couple of phrases in that language can really help you a lot. Or why not learn how to cook – then you don’t have to continue to survive on take away or fish sticks!

4. Recharge

Although the summer is a great time to read, workout, and pick up new skills it’s also important to remember to actually take some time and relax. Drink some tea in the sun, go on a walk, or just take a nap in the hammock. Breathe in, breathe out.

5. Socialize

Humans are social beings and we don’t do very well on our own for longer periods of time. Research has shown that spending time with others can improve your health a lot so make an effort and connect with others this summer. Reach out to an old friend you haven’t talked to in ages. Give your mom a call. Start a conversation with a stranger. You never know where that relationship might take you.

6. Master your personal finances

If you’re not one of those who know exactly what to invest in and how – now is the time to read up on it! Making good financial decisions is crucial to building a fantastic foundation for your future. So how do you do that? There are several ways to approach this particular goal. On youtube, you can find amazing videos on the subject. The number of books written about investing and personal finance is almost infinite. You can also talk to somebody in your network if you prefer a personal connection.

7. Explore

With the current situation it’s hard to travel – we know. But you don’t have to visit a different country to experience the benefits of traveling, you could just go somewhere you haven’t been to before, like a different part of town, a cool restaurant or a cozy café. Some other suggestions include a museum, an art gallery, and a national park. Discover the world around you! New experiences = new knowledge = growth!
